THE FLOCK is the first album by a very interesting American band that worked at the junction of jazz, blues and rock. In almost any criticism you will read that FLOCK is very similar to CHICAGO, was influenced by CHICAGO, or something similar. You can safely throw this criticism in the trash... The Flock failed to achieve the commercial success of other jazz-rock bands of the era, such as Chicago and Blood Sweat and Tears, but they became quite famous due to the inclusion of the violin in the group. They cannot be attributed to the jazz mainstream and gloss, which American philistines liked so much, because the powerful brass section was often reinforced by a hard sound and hard rock riffs. ...more

ELOY-PERFORMANCE-1983-FIRST PRESS GERMANY-HARVEST-1C064-46714. A rare German original. The eleventh album of a prog band from Germany. Since the appearance of the album "Performance" on the shelves of stores, a barrage of accusations from critics immediately fell on the heads of the musicians. Eloy was accused of imitating and repeating themselves! According to critics, there was nothing new in this album, but just a repetition of the previous Time To Turn! But, despite the attacks on the band, the audience received the album quite warmly! Perofrmance is a disc very characteristic of Eloy in the first half of the 80s, Bornemann seems to still not be able to decide what to play for them: either metal, or space rock. The melodies, as always, are pleasant, but there are no particularly bright ones, and the performance, again, as always, is excellent. Dominant keyboards with (increasingly rare) guitar solos. This is their eighth UK album. There were claims that the album was hated by both fans and critics. However, the album peaked at number 3 in the UK, becoming the third highest of all the band's albums and the second highest in the charts for an album with newly recorded material.
