It features Evans ' big band arrangements of five original compositions (two written by Miles Davis) and compositions by Kurt Weill, Bob Dorow, John Lewis, and Willie Dixon.The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4 stars, stating that " Highly recommended to Gil Evans fans; it's a pity he hasn't recorded more albums in this era." ABBA-VOULEZ-VOUS-1979-THE FIRST PRESS OF SWEDEN-POLAR - POLS282.A rare Swedish original of the cult album.  Voulez-Vous is the sixth studio album by Swedish pop band ABBA, released in 1979. The release is characterized by a large number of dance-oriented tracks, but it is wrong to define the genre of the album as exclusively "disco"; for example, the song "Does Your Mother Know" has quite definite rock motifs. The work on the album went on for more than a year, and during this time the participants had accumulated more material than what they managed to put on the album. Among the works of that period published much later, it is worth mentioning the composition Dream World, included as a bonus track on the 2010 reissue. In 1981, the album "Voulez-Vous" was released in the USSR by the company "Melody" and became the last numbered album "ABBA", released in the Soviet Union. It was released in 2006 by Paris-based Ya Basta Records, under the management of Philippe Cohen Solal. The album is named Lunático after the racehorse of the legendary tango master Carlos Gardel. The album is a collaboration with the American band Calexico, recorded in Tucson, Arizona, and a cover of the song by Ry Cooder in Paris, Texas . The rest of the album was recorded in Paris and Buenos Aires . The first single from the album was "Diferente", and the second was "Mi Confesión". The third single was "La Vigüela". The album so captured the hearts of listeners and critics that it was at the top of the charts in 25 countries for a year. And the results of the year were expected-multi-gold in 20 countries, and as the album of the year placed the US (Billboard)- 2nd place, Belgian Albums (Ultratop Flanders)- 3rd place, Italian albums (FIMI) - 4th place. and so on.  ...more

In the Beginning is a double album by flautist Hubert Laws, released on CTI and recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in 1974. The album was later re-released on CTI as two separate volumes under the title Then There Was Light. Critics praised the album stating: "In this double album, flautist Hubert Lawes is in all his glory. The music ranges from classical pieces to straight-forward jazz with hints of ' 70s funk included in the mix... this record is one of the most significant of Hubert Laws ' career."  The Penguin Encyclopedia of Jazz Recordings describes it as “the best album and a good, complete representation of flute playing."” ...more
