A rare Japanese original of a cult album.The Blue Ridge Rangers is the first solo studio album by John Fogerty, former vocalist and guitarist of Creedence Clearwater Revival. When originally released on Fantasy Records in 1973, the album was credited to The Blue Ridge Rangers without mentioning Fogerty on the cover. Fogerty decided to do so in order to distance himself from his Creedence legacy. The album consists entirely of traditional and country covers, and Fogerty plays all the instruments. The album reached 47th place in the charts. Two singles from the album became hits: "Jambalaya", which reached number 16 in the United States and 15 in Canada, and "Hearts of Stone", which reached number 37 in the United States and 35 in Canada. It was released in 1972, after Joplin's death, as a double album. The first record contains performances with Big Brother and the Holding Company, and the second with the Full Tilt Boogie Band, recorded in different locations in 1968 and 1970. There are no live recordings from her first solo work with the Kozmic Blues band on the album, although the songs produced with this group were performed in Full Tilt Boogie Band recordings. The photographs used for the gatefold album were taken by photographer David Gar in New York in 1969 and 1970. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 in the US. ...more
