A 1957 studio album by American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, accompanied by Duke Ellington and his orchestra, dedicated to Ellington's songs. Part of the Fitzgerald Songbook series, this is the only one where the composer also appears as a performer, and the first time Fitzgerald recorded with Ellington. It is also the entry in the Songbook series that gave her the most opportunities to demonstrate her skill in singing scat. Most of the third disc is dedicated to two original compositions by Billy Strayhorn, inspired by the life, character and artistry of Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald's recording on this album earned her the Grammy Award for Best Individual Jazz Performance at the 1st Annual Grammy Awards. The album was released in two volumes: In the first volume was Fitzgerald with the Ellington Orchestra, in the second-Fitzgerald with a small group. This album marked the beginning of a fruitful creative relationship between Fitzgerald and Ellington. SWEET SMOKE-JUST A POKE-1970-FIRST PRESS GERMANY-COLUMBIA-1C062-28886 is a very rare German original of one of the most iconic albums of prog music. Sweet Smoke is an American band formed in 1967 and played progressive rock. This is primarily a live band known for its long, impromptu performances.  It was created by Andrew Dershin, Mike Paris, Victor Sacco, Jay Dorfman and Merwin Kaminowitz in Brooklyn, New York. In the beginning, the band played in American clubs in front of a small audience. Then she moved to the Virgin Islands under the name "Ice Company", because the management of local clubs believed that the name "Sweet Smoke" ("Fragrant Smoke") and the hippie image were too provocative. After spending a short time in the Caribbean, the group moved to Germany at the end of 1969, where its members received the support of the famous German sculptor Waldemar Kuhn. Their first album Just A Poke in 1970 consisted of only two long songs Baby Night (16:22 min) and Silly Sally (16:24 min). The first is probably the band's most famous composition, mainly due to the distinctive melodies of Michael Paris' flute. Work on Abbey Road took place from February to August 1969 and became the last joint project of all four members of the ensemble (the last numbered album of the group Let It Be, released in 1970, was mostly recorded in January 1969). The record was produced by George Martin, who had worked with the band since 1962. Abbey Road sales totaled four million copies in the first two months. In the UK, the album debuted at the top of the national chart, where it remained for 11 weeks, after which it was supplanted by The Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed for one week. Then he returned to the 1st place again (in the Christmas week) and stayed there for another six weeks (17 weeks in total), until he was displaced by the second Led Zeppelin record - Led Zeppelin II. Deep Purple's last album with vocalist Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover before the release of Perfect Strangers in 1984. The CD was recorded in July 1972 in Rome[4] and in October of the same year in Frankfurt using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio.The band at that time was torn apart by internal conflicts and the recording of the album turned into a nightmare[4]. Ian Gillan later compared this album to The House of Blue Light in 1987: "It's all the same: great songs, but a complete lack of mutual understanding among the musicians and ... weak morale."Who Do We Think We Are did not rise above the 4th position in the UK and 15th in the US charts.
