Child in Time is the debut album by the British jazz rock band Ian Gillan Band, released in 1976. The album got its name from the Deep Purple song "Child in Time", a version of which appeared on the record. The album reached number 36 in the Swedish charts and number 55 in the UK.It was Ian Gillan's first release after leaving Deep Purple, as well as his former Deep Purple bandmate bassist Roger Glover as the album's producer.

Nevertheless, superstability constantly eluded them, perhaps partly due to frequent changes in the composition. Despite this, their next album Hellbound Train (1972) entered the Top 40 album for them in the USA. In January 1974, the British music magazine NME reported that Stan Webb was joining Savoy Brown after the breakup of Chicken Shack.
