Artwoods is a British rock band formed in 1963 and worked between 1964 and 1967.Singer Arthur Wood, from whom the band took its name, was the older brother of Ronnie Wood (who later became famous thanks to Faces and Rolling Stones). Art Wood was the lead singer of Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated for a short period in 1962, while also leading his own band ART WOOD COMBO. When keyboardist Jon Lord (later founded DEEP PURPLE) and guitarist Derek Griffiths of Red Bludd's Bluesicians joined the ART WOOD COMBO, ARTWOODS was formed. Released on May 24, 1968, the album reached number one on the UK album charts on June 29, where it remained for a total of six weeks. Walls and Bridges is the fifth solo studio album by Beatles band member John Lennon, released in 1974. "Walls And Bridges" was recorded during Lennon and Yoko Ono's long separation. Elton John took part in the recording of the song "Whatever Gets You thru the Night". He bet Lennon that this song could take the first place in the American charts (which had not previously been possible for any of Lennon's solo singles). In case that happened, Lennon was obliged to take part in an Elton John concert. He had to fulfill his promise because "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" really managed to climb to the top of the chart. SAVOY BROWN-JACK THE TOAD-1973-FIRST UK PRESS-DECCA-TXS112 Matrix A-1W/B-1W. A rare British original of the cult blues-rock band. They were one of the bands that British Decca (USA, London/Parrot) had a relationship with during difficult times until they started selling records; it took four or five albums until they started selling in the USA. In the late 1960s and 1970s, the band managed to break into the Billboard Hot 100. The 1971 release of Street Corner Talking included the songs "Tell Mama" and "Conversation on the Street Corner". Nevertheless, superstability constantly eluded them, perhaps partly due to frequent changes in the composition. Despite this, their next album Hellbound Train (1972) entered the Top 40 album for them in the USA. In January 1974, the British music magazine NME reported that Stan Webb was joining Savoy Brown after the breakup of Chicken Shack. The album JACK THE TOAD in the USA is located at the 78th place of the Billboard 100. ...more
