Brothers in Arms spent a total of 14 consecutive weeks at number one on the UK Albums chart (including ten consecutive weeks from January 18 to March 22, 1986), nine consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 in the US, and 34 consecutive weeks at number one on the Australian Albums chart. It was the first album to receive a tenfold platinum certification in the UK[6] and became the eighth best-selling album in the history of the British charts.
