It was Dylan's first album to use power tools, which caused controversy and divided many in the modern folk scene. The album is divided into two separate parts; the first part of the album uses electric instruments, and on the first side of the original vinyl disc, Dylan is accompanied by an electro-rock and roll band. The second part mainly features acoustic songs.
