The album consists mainly of re-recorded songs from Ri's previous albums, as well as the new track "Working on It", which reached number 73 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and became Ri's only hit to reach number one on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song "On the Beach" reached number 9 on the US Adult Contemporary Singles Chart and number 12 on the UK Singles Chart. The album reached number five on the UK Albums Chart, staying there for over a year, and was triple platinum by the BPI until 1992. The first album of the famous band, a rare British original. The Electric Light Orchestra is the debut studio album by the English rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), released in December 1971 in the United Kingdom by Harvest Records. In the United States, the album was released in March 1972 under the title "No Answer" after a United Artists Records employee misunderstood a phone call and asked for the album's name; the caller, unable to contact ELO, wrote "no answer" in his notes, and this was misinterpreted as the album's title. The album is dedicated to the main trio of Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne and Bev Bevan, who were the remaining members of the rock band The Move. The Move continued to release singles in the UK at the same time that the project was launched, but interest in Wood's former band soon waned.
