A New World Record is the sixth studio album by the British band Electric Light Orchestra, released in September 1976. The album was remastered and re-released in 2006 with the addition of six bonus tracks. A New World Record became the band's first album to reach the top ten in the UK (the previous three albums had great success in the USA, but not in the homeland of the musicians). The album was certified platinum in both the UK and the USA, and sold five million copies in the first year after its release. Like the previous album, A New World Record was recorded at Munich's Musicland Studios.

Ahead of the release, the band posted a full-page advertisement in Melody Maker magazine at the end of September saying, "Thank you for making us the number one band in the world." The album was released in the US on October 5, and in the UK on October 23. He immediately topped the UK charts. Led Zeppelin III became the number one transatlantic hit. In the UK, it reached number one on November 7, 1970 and remained on the charts for 40 weeks. It also proved to be the band's last Studio album with vocalist Joe Lynn Turner, bassist Roger Glover, and keyboardist David Rosenthal, as well as their only drummer, Chuck Burgee, who replaced Bobby Rondinelli shortly before the album was recorded.
