FREDDIE AND THE DREAMERS -YOU WERE MAD FOR ME-1964-FIRST PRESS (MONO) UK-COLUMBIA-33SX1663. A rare British original rock beat band. Mitch Murray was invited to the project, who wrote several songs for FREDDIE AND THE DREAMERS, and two subsequent singles, "I'm Telling You Now" and "You Were Made For Me", took second and third place in the charts. All this happened in 1963, and their first full-length album was released in the same year. As was often the case in those days, he was named after the band, Freddie And The Dreamers. And it was a success! Those who know the history of rock music in the sixties will agree with me: not every talented band could count on such success. SMOKIE-CHANGING ALL THE TIME-1975-THE FIRST UK-RAK PRESS number SRAK517. A-1/B-1 matrices. A very rare British original of the legendary band. On this day in 1975, the band Smokie releases their second album, called ‘Changing All The Time'. This album is a testament to the changes. After its release, the band had to slightly change the spelling of its name to avoid being nagged by lawyers for American soul singer Smokey Robinson. However, only the last two letters have changed. But the Smokie sound has undergone significant changes. The band's curators, hit makers, Chinn and Chapman tried to give it more softness with echoes of country rock, which was supposed to turn Smokie into the British answer to the Eagles. And they succeeded. The album entered the top ten of all European charts. ...more
