A very rare original of the cult album. Californication is the seventh studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on June 8, 1999. Like the band's two previous records, the album was produced by Rick Rubin and released on the major label Warner Bros. Records. Californication marked the return of guitarist John Frusciante, who left the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1992 during a tour in support of the album Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Frusciante officially rejoined the band in 1998, replacing Dave Navarro. In addition to the usual sexual themes for the band, the album touches on topics such as death, suicide, drugs, globalization, as well as travel. The album includes such hits as "Californication", "Around the World", "Otherside", as well as "Scar Tissue", which won a Grammy Award in the category "Best Rock Song". Californication is the band's most commercially successful album. He also directed the film "More", for which Pink Floyd also recorded the soundtrack. The CD was recorded in six days in France, at the Chateau d’Erouville. As in the case of the soundtrack to the film "More", you can hear several modified versions of the songs on the album. The CD became the only album recorded by the band after Phil Collins left it in 1996. The lead vocals in this recording were performed by Ray Wilson, who replaced Collins. AllMusic and Rolling Stone noted that Ray Wilson was a worthy replacement for Collins as a vocalist, but the album as a whole lacks good material. Both of them noted the strange combination of art rock and pop music on the album. ...more
