In the album Jesus Christ Superstar, released in 1970, the title role was performed by Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan. A very rare original of the cult album. Bless It Pointed Little Head is a Jefferson Airplane album recorded live at Fillmore East and West in the fall of 1968 and released in 1969 as RCA Victor LSP-4133. Five songs from the album did not appear on any of the band's previous studio recordings. Many of the Airplane's recordings on the album were longer than their studio performances. The performance emphasized their vocal harmony and showed a tougher rock band.
