The premiere, directed by Mark Zakharov, took place on July 9, 1981 on the stage of the Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater, where the performance, which has become a kind of business card of Lenkom, took place In parallel with the work on the performance, an audio version of the opera with other performers was recorded in Lenkom in 1980. Vocalist and songwriter Michael Fennelly hit the Top 40 with his first single "Go Back".  Crabby Appleton signed with Elektra Records and recorded their first album Crabby Appleton, produced by Don Gallucci and released in 1970.[1] The band's debut single "Go Back" rose to number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[2] The band opened for the Doors, Sly and the Family Stone, Three Dog Night, Guess Who, ABBA and George Carlin. They appeared on the American Bandstand, the Real Don Steele Show, What's Happening with John Byner and enjoyed critical acclaim. Both their albums, Crabby Appleton and Rotten to the Core, received rave reviews in Rolling Stone and Creem magazines.
