It was the first album to be released after the band's reorganization, after their breakup in 1970. Founding guitarist Luther Grosvenor did not return to the band as he joined Mott the Hoople as a guitarist, adopting the stage name Ariel Bender. Grosvenor was replaced by Mick Jones, who later co-founded Foreigner, and drummer Mike Kelly was replaced by Bryson Graham. The CD became the only album recorded by the band after Phil Collins left it in 1996. The lead vocals in this recording were performed by Ray Wilson, who replaced Collins. AllMusic and Rolling Stone noted that Ray Wilson was a worthy replacement for Collins as a vocalist, but the album as a whole lacks good material.
