Lot 28.BOYD, EDDIE-AND HIS BLUES BAND FEATURING PETER GREEN-1967-FIRST PRESS UK-DECCA-NMINT/NMINT

BOYD, EDDIE-AND HIS BLUES BAND FEATURING PETER GREEN-1967-FIRST PRESS UK-DECCA-SKL4872 Matrix A-1W/B-1W. A very rare British original of the cult blues album. "Eddie Boyd and his Blues Band featuring Peter Green", the second album released in September 1967 by Decca. The recording was arranged by Mike Vernon in March 1967 at Decca Studios #2 in London. The recording took place over three days – on March 14, 17 and 21. As a result, there were 16 tracks on the album, and two of them - "Dust My Broom" by Elmore James and" Save Her, Doctor "by Boyd himself - were decorated with a slide guitar by the leader of "Groundhogs", Tony McPhee. As on previous recordings, most of the material was copyrighted. Sales of the album were consistently high, and it remained in the Decca catalog until the mid-70s. The reviews of critics were also generally favorable, in contrast to the sharply negative attitude towards the previous recordings of American bluesmen with English bands, primarily Sonny Boy Williamson's live albums with "Yardbirds"and " Animals". So the reviewer of "Blues Unlimited" noted that " this is the only English session that is not spoiled by the band's playing or the level of recording. The accompanying group was adequate… Peter Green really knows how to play the guitar."   ...more

Lot 80.NAZARETH-NO JIVE-1991-FIRST PRESS UK/EU GERMANY-MAUSOLEUM-NMINT/NMINT

NAZARETH-NO JIVE-1991-FIRST PRESS UK/EU GERMANY-MAUSOLEUM - 36700101. Mega rare album of the giants of British rock. The first press was released only in Germany. No Jive is the eighteenth studio album by the British band Nazareth. Released in 1991 by Griffin Records. Despite the retirement of permanent guitarist Manny Charlton and the return of Billy Rankin, in the 90s Nazareth returned to classic hard rock, from which they started. From the first chords of "Hire and Fire", you seem to be transported to 1974, to the time of "Rampant". The first 3 tracks were made in this style. Next is the obligatory melodic semi-ballad "Every Time it Rains". Remnants of the sound of the 80s are still left in "Keeping our Love Alive". "The Rowan Tree" is a nice little instrumental on an acoustic guitar, which is like an introduction to" Tell Me That You Love Me " – here the guys remembered that they are from Scotland and played a wonderful folk singing song. The disc ends with the once again replayed "This Flight Tonight" In February 1992, the album was released, received flattering reviews from critics, followed by a tour of Europe, including the first trip to England after 1985. In 1993, "No Jive" was released in the United States, received excellent reviews and sold well. ...more

A rare British original of the cult prog band. Minstrel in the Gallery is the eighth studio album by the British rock band Jethro Tull, released in September 1975. The album shows the band as returning to a mix of electric and acoustic compositions, thus closer to their early 70s albums such as Benefit (1970), Aqualung(1971) and Thick as a Brick (1972). The album was the first Jethro Tull album recorded outside the UK, in Monte Carlo, Monaco. This was Jethro Tull's last album with bassist Jeffrey Hammond, who left the band after the album's tour ended in late 1975 and was replaced by former Carmen bassist John Glascock. AllMusic has a favorable review stating that the album is "the most artistically successful and carefully crafted album since Thick as a Brick". ...more
