At the time of joining Alex Harvey, the band consisted of: vocalist David Batchelor, Hugh McKenna-keyboardist and backing vocalist, bassist Chris Glen, Zal Cleminson-guitar and backing vocals, and Hugh McKenna's brother Ted on drums. "Walls And Bridges" was recorded during the long absences of Lennon and Yoko Ono. The song "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" was attended by Elton John. He made a bet with Lennon that the song would be able to take first place in the American hit parade (which was previously not possible for any one single solo Lennon). If this would have happened, Lennon was required to attend the Elton John concert. He had to fulfill his promise, because, "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" actually managed to climb to the top of the chart. The song "Beef Jerky" is the only instrumental on solo albums Lennon. ZOO-COUNTY TOWN N-1983-FIRST PRESS 1994 RUSSIA-ZOO-M0054. A very rare original of the cult group. "County Town N" is the first studio album by the band "Zoo", recorded in 1983. The title track is one of the longest songs sung in Russian. One of the tribute albums to the memory of Mike and the band, released in 2005, was called "County Town N 20 years later". The album was recorded in the spring of 1983 on equipment in the building of the "House of the Young Technician" in Leningrad under the direction of Andrey Tropillo. A tape recorder of the Studer brand at the 38th speed and a Basf LR-56 film were used. The recording is characterized by a fairly high sound quality.All the songs included in the album were written by Mike Naumenko, with the exception of the song "Bells", which was written and performed by Alexander Khrabunov, the band's lead guitarist. ...more

The album is a cross between the dominant synthesizer sound of the 1980s and the folk-influenced style that Jethro Tull used in the previous decade. Thus, the band's characteristic acoustic instruments are complemented by electronic soundscapes provided by the new keyboardist Peter-John Vettese. The electronic aspects of this album will be further explored by the band in their next release, In Secret. In the notes to the remastered version of the album, Ian Anderson expresses the opinion that Broadsword contains some of the best music of Jethro Tull. ...more
