The release of Gracias Por La Música was prompted by the band's unexpected rise in popularity in Latin American countries such as Mexico and Argentina, following the release of Spanish-language versions of the songs " Chiquitita "and"I Have a Dream". The band members decided to record eight more songs in Spanish and release a full-length album specifically for this market. Buddy and Mary McCluskey, who worked at RCA Records in Argentina, were invited to translate the lyrics. The tracks were recorded in January 1980 at Polar Music Studios, with lead vocalists Agnete Faltskoog and Anni-Frid Lingstad assisted by Spanish-Swedish journalist Ana Martinez. The soundtracks of the songs, some of which date back to 1974-1975, have been modified to give them a more modern sound. The works were supervised by the engineer of the group Michael Tretow. ...more
