SANTANA-SHAPE SHIIFTER-2012-FIRST UK/EU PRESS-MUSIC ON VINYL- MOVLP573 is a rare European original by the legendary guitarist. Shape Shifter is the twenty—second studio album (thirty-sixth album overall) by Santana. It was released on May 14, 2012. This album is the first released by his new label Starfaith Records, which is distributed by Sony Music Entertainment, the owners of all of Santana's albums (except those recorded for Polydor Records, which are owned by Universal Music Group). This is also the first album since 1992 by Milagro, in which none of the songs have guest vocalists. This style was typical of Santana's Supernatural albums. There is only one song with vocals in the album ("Eres La Luz"). The track "Mr. Szabo" is a tribute to Hungarian guitarist Gabor Szabo, one of Carlos Santana's early idols, who released a series of 8 albums for Impulse Records between 1966 and 1967; the rhythmic and harmonic structure of the track is similar to "Gypsy Queen", Szabo's 1966 recording, covered by Santana in 1970 this year, as a medley with Fleetwood Mac's "Black Magic Woman". ...more

A rare British original of a cult album. The first solo album by Robert Calvert, an eccentric character who was still a full-time Hawkwind poet at that time and had not yet managed to become their full-time frontman. This is a very peculiar story album - the real story of the American Lockheed F-104 Starfighter fighter, which in the 60s was, it turns out, purchased by the West German Air Force in terrible quantities with such modifications that made the aircraft terribly emergency, as a result of which it earned the nickname "Widowmaker". Calvert is drawn here on two counts at once: firstly, he expresses his love and knowledge of military history; secondly, he demonstrates colorful sarcasm and a sense of humor. His targets, of course, are German generals (banter against Germans, as you know, is a traditional genre of British humor). The album actually resembles a radio play, in which song numbers alternate with comic skits brilliantly played by characters such as Vivian Stanshall from Bonzo Dog Band and, of course, Calvert himself.
