JOHN, ELTON-CARIBOU-1974-FIRST PRESS UK-DJM-DJLPH439. A rare British original of the master of the British stage. Caribou is the eighth studio album by Elton John, released in 1974. The album peaked at number four in the US and number three in the UK. The album contains the singles "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", which peaked at number 16 on the UK Singles chart and number two in the US, and "The Bitch Is Back", which peaked at number 15 in the UK and number four in the US. Both singles reached number one in Canada on the national RPM 100 Top Singles Chart, as did the album itself. The album was met with lukewarm reviews on its release, and legacy reviews do not consider this record one of John's best works from his peak period of the early 1970s. However, the album was a commercial success and was certified double platinum in the US, as well as being certified gold in the UK. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year at the 17th Annual Grammy Awards.
