High Time is the second studio album by American rock band MC5, released in 1971 by Atlantic Records. Unfortunately, the 1971 album High Time was the last for MC5. Heavy drugs entered the lives of the band members, and within a year they broke up, moving to other groups. At least two of the participants ended up in federal prison on drug trafficking charges, and they were never reunited until Rob Tyner's untimely death in mid-summer 1992.Although the band's debut album Kick Out the Jams peaked at number 30 on the Billboard 200 chart, their second album stalled at number 137, and High Time proved to be even less commercially successful.

The work on the album went on for more than a year, and during this time the participants had accumulated more material than what they managed to put on the album.
