SLADE-WHATEVER HAPPENED TO SLADE-1977-FIRST PRESS UK-BARN -2314103.A rare British original of the legendary band.Whatever Happened to Slade is the seventh studio album by the British rock band Slade. It was released on March 21, 1977 on Barn Records, but failed to chart nationally. By the time the album was released, Slade's popularity was declining, as were their record sales, which they acknowledged in the album title. The glam rock movement that Slade was associated with died, and the careers of other glam rock artists such as Mud, Gary Glitter and Sweet went downhill. In Britain, where Slade was traditionally the most popular, punk rock was in fashion. With this album, Slade established themselves as a straight-talking rock band; their "glam" statements from the beginning of the decade are a thing of the past. The album received critical acclaim and support from the English punk movement. In a 1979 Slade fan poll, the album was ranked among the top three Slade albums. ...more

A rare Swedish second press of the iconic album, after which ABBA became famous all over the world. Waterloo is the second studio album by Swedish pop band ABBA, the first to be released internationally. It was originally released on March 4, 1974 in Sweden on the Polar Music label. The album's title track won ABBA the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 and became a worldwide hit, launching the band's career. "Waterloo" won the Swedish qualifying round, and the band represented Sweden in Brighton at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. ABBA won the competition, and "Waterloo" became a hit not only in Europe, but also around the world (for example, taking 6th place in the USA). The album has already been released in Sweden and topped the Swedish charts for 12 weeks, becoming one of the best-selling Swedish albums at that time. In the UK, the album peaked at number 28, becoming the first album by a foreign artist to chart, and performed well in the rest of Europe. ...more

Lot 5.ABBA-VOULEZ-VOUS-1979-FIRST PRESS SWEDEN-POLAR-NMINT/NMINT

ABBA-VOULEZ-VOUS-1979-THE FIRST PRESS OF SWEDEN-POLAR - POLS282.A rare Swedish original of the cult album.  Voulez-Vous is the sixth studio album by Swedish pop band ABBA, released in 1979. The release is characterized by a large number of dance-oriented tracks, but it is wrong to define the genre of the album as exclusively "disco"; for example, the song "Does Your Mother Know" has quite definite rock motifs. The work on the album went on for more than a year, and during this time the participants had accumulated more material than what they managed to put on the album. Among the works of that period published much later, it is worth mentioning the composition Dream World, included as a bonus track on the 2010 reissue. In 1981, the album "Voulez-Vous" was released in the USSR by the company "Melody" and became the last numbered album "ABBA", released in the Soviet Union. The album, like the previous one, was a huge success, placing in the charts of all countries in the top ten. It became multi-platinum in just one year.  ...more
