The CD received the highest critical acclaim, was declared a masterpiece, the best album of the singer, one of the best works of white blues. Pearl topped the Billboard 200 lists.

Pendulum is the last CCR album to feature rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, who left the band shortly after the album's release. The record demonstrates the group's desire to expand its own stylistic framework, a number of his compositions are musically noticeably more complex than the CCR recordings of the 1968-1969 sample.
