A 1957 studio album by American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, accompanied by Duke Ellington and his orchestra, dedicated to Ellington's songs. Part of the Fitzgerald Songbook series, this is the only one where the composer also appears as a performer, and the first time Fitzgerald recorded with Ellington. It is also the entry in the Songbook series that gave her the most opportunities to demonstrate her skill in singing scat. Most of the third disc is dedicated to two original compositions by Billy Strayhorn, inspired by the life, character and artistry of Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald's recording on this album earned her the Grammy Award for Best Individual Jazz Performance at the 1st Annual Grammy Awards. The album was released in two volumes: In the first volume was Fitzgerald with the Ellington Orchestra, in the second-Fitzgerald with a small group. This album marked the beginning of a fruitful creative relationship between Fitzgerald and Ellington. Deep Purple's last album with vocalist Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover before the release of Perfect Strangers in 1984. The CD was recorded in July 1972 in Rome[4] and in October of the same year in Frankfurt using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio.The band at that time was torn apart by internal conflicts and the recording of the album turned into a nightmare[4]. Ian Gillan later compared this album to The House of Blue Light in 1987: "It's all the same: great songs, but a complete lack of mutual understanding among the musicians and ... weak morale."Who Do We Think We Are did not rise above the 4th position in the UK and 15th in the US charts.
