DEEP PURPLE-FIREBALL-1971-FIRST PRESS UK-HARVEST- SHVL793 Matrix A-2U/B-3U . A rare original of the cult album. Fireball is the fifth studio album by the British rock band Deep Purple. Recorded between September 1970 and June 1971, released in September 1971 on Harvest Records. The album was recorded at De Lane Lea Studios (like its predecessor). Compared to Deep Purple in Rock, this album was recorded in a more experimental style. Allmusic named it one of the band's four most important albums, along with Machine Head, In Rock and Burn. Ian Gillan, unlike the rest of the band, considers this album a classic of Deep Purple. Nevertheless, he noticed that the inclusion of "Anyone's Daughter" (in the country style and with humorous lyrics) on the album was fun, but a mistake ("A good bit of fun, but a mistake"). Jon Lord singled out several tracks of the album, such as "No No No" and "Fools", and especially noted Pace's playing in the title track. The track "Strange Kind of Woman", released as a single in February 1971 and rose to number eight in the UK charts. 20,000 copies were sold in the first week. The album contains a selection of songs from the first four Eagles albums released between the formation of the Eagles in 1971 and 1975. Their greatest hits (1971-1975) reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, where they remained for five weeks. "One of These Nights" and "The Best of My Love" topped the Billboard Hot 100. The album is notable for being the first album to receive platinum certification by the RIAA, which was introduced in 1976 to recognize albums sold a million copies in the United States. It peaked at number four on the Billboard year-end Albums chart in 1976 and spent a total of 239 weeks on the Billboard 200 as of August 2018. Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) was the best-selling album of the 20th century in the United States, and it remained so for several years until it was surpassed by Michael Jackson's thriller after the artist's death in 2009..
