This is the first album after the split of the band in early 1987, "Hero of Asphalt" is also the first album officially released by "Melody", the two previous albums at that time existed and were distributed as tape albums only on tape cassettes. The album was a great success, its sales exceeded 1 million copies (which in the United States corresponds to the platinum status), but the exact circulation is unknown even to the company "Melody", although, according to her, at least 1.5 million records were printed.On this album, for the first time, all the lyrics were written by Margarita Pushkina, and Alexander Elin, who wrote the lyrics to previous albums, left for the Master group and did not work with Aria until 2001.In 2008, a concert tour was held in honor of the 20th anniversary of the album, which resulted in the release of a double live album and a concert video "Hero of Asphalt XX years". According to the RIAA, it sold over five million copies in the U.S. alone, becoming instantly multiplatinovymi. The first four tracks previously released on the EP Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide. The last four songs were recorded using acoustic guitars. They were written and recorded in only a few sessions in the Studio (except "You're Crazy", which was included in an alternate version of the album Appetite for Destruction).In later interviews, Axl rose said that he likes how the band sounded on the last four songs, but he hated the sound of his voice. Rose recalled that his voice was hoarse and rough due to long touring bands at the time, and if he could, he re-recorded his vocals.
