The album was originally planned to be released in 1990, after 18 concerts Eric in the beginning of the year, but the musician was dissatisfied with the recorded material and the gate 24 Nights was delayed. In 1991, Clapton set a record by playing the Royal albert hall 24 nights in a row. The album, with the inclusion of new records that came out a few months later.
