The album Rising (also known as Rainbow Rising) is the second Studio album by Rainbow, released in 1976. Most critics say this is the best album among all the albums released by the group. The album went on sale in may of the same year, rising to 48th place in The Billboard 200 and up to 11th place in the UK. Over the next few years Rising has become a classic in hard rock. In 1981 Rising topped the reader's list of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time, compiled by the magazine Kerrang!. In 2002, the album was ranked 22nd position in the ranking "100 best rock albums of all time" by the magazine Classic Rock

Gill and Roelofs 1980 record a new album, preceded by its release of the single We Gotta Get Out Of This Place. The album was called I Like Some Cool Rock'n'roll, and it was produced by himself, Roelofs, and Farian remained in the project as a viewer and a producer, for which, however, had the final word. The album was attended by interesting disco song Go Down Main Street, Tom Cat, as well as a few songs Roelofs, co-written by Fred Jay, including a beautiful lyrical Take Your Time. What prevented this album to be a bestseller, unknown, but, apparently, the role played by the fact that in 1980 disco began to experience hard times.
