It reached number 7 on the UK Albums Chart and number 2 on the Billboard 200, and was certified platinum by the RIAA. In Canada, he took 1st place on the RPM national Albums chart.
The album is marked by the participation of all four former Beatles and numerous guest stars, which will become Starr's signature on many of his subsequent albums and tours.

Tons of Sobs is the debut Studio album by British rock band Free, released by Island Records on 14 March 1969. One of the first albums in the style of Blues-rock. The album hit the UK charts, but reached #197 in the Billboard Hot 200 in the United States.At the time of the recording of the album the band Free was very young: none of them are under the age of twenty, and bass player Andy Fraser was sixteen.
